Playlists

At my house the living room is organized around the record player, and my kids developed strong opinions about songs they first heard before they could see over the turntable.

A good playlist is my love language. Here are my favorites:

🎡 Cover Songs that Don’t Suck Self-explanatory.

🎡 Digital Animal A playlist of songs about all the angst and joy of living with modern technology.

🎡 Debbie Debbie This one started as a personal game: assemble only the coolest songs with a name in the title, avoiding the obvious choices. The result is an eclectic mix spanning love songs, stories, and icons across genres, and lowkey one of my favorite playlists on shuffle.

🎡 I Am Trying to Break Your Horns Every song in this playlist is doing something wonderful with a horn section.

🎡 She/Her/Hers A huge playlist overflowing with women vocalists and players, spanning mostly indie music across genres. Niche icons from myriad corners of music over the last 60-plus years.

🎡 Music for the Children This high-energy playlist spans genres, decades, and styles but keeps a friendly, danceable vibe for the whole family. I curated it over time with my own kids, and a song’s chances of making the list go way up if it’s hilarious to sing with a toddler.
